Tegucigalpa. Authorities of the National Institute for Migration (INM) reported a successful operational balance at the Passport Delivery Centers in the country's main air terminals, achieving the issuance of more than 950 emergency passports in its first 90 days of continuous service.

These express service terminals operate at Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport in La Lima; Palmerola International Airport, Comayagua, and Toncontín Airport, at Tegucigalpa.

This initiative emerged with the aim of decentralizing migration services and providing a quick alternative to citizens who need to process or renew their travel document for emergency or last-minute reasons.

In this regard, the authorities of the INM highlighted that the figure reached in this first quarter reflects the excellent acceptance of the population and the efficiency of the new points of attention implemented in the national territory.

Schedules for Passport Emission Centers

As for the hours of service, the centres of the airports Palmerola and Villeda Morales operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, while the airport Toncontín is served on a schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., also throughout the year.

In order to access this benefit, the interested parties must present themselves in person at the Attention Team to make the formal request to a passport officer. INM validate if the user profile applies for this service, which is unique to emergencies.

Once the application has been approved, the citizen will cancel the corresponding fee in the authorized banking agencies or electronic branches, and then submit the proof of payment to the officer who will manage his urgent appointment. The process immediately ends with the capture of biometric data, the taking of official photograph and the printing of the notebook.

Data of economic interest

The 5-year passport has a cost of $55 or its equivalent in lempiras, while the 10-year valid document has a price of $70 or its equivalent in national currency
