Tegucigalpa. The tourist flow and the procedures for establishing residence energized the entry of 1,073,297 foreign citizens to Honduras from 1 January to 16 July 2026, becoming the main engines of a migration movement that already exceeds 1.9 million travellers, according to the latest report of the Migration Biometric Control System of the National Institute of Migration (INM).
Citizens of El Salvador and the United States leads the entry of foreign visitors to the territory of Honduras. Both nationalities head the immigration flow list, followed by citizens of Guatemala and Nicaragua, while on a smaller scale the arrival of travelers from Canada, Panama, Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica among others.
As regards the demographic profile of visitors, the INM highlighted that the vast majority of registered people are concentrated in a productive age range of between 21 and 50 years.
With regard to the access routes used to reach the nation, land borders were consolidated as the main option of arrival in the country with a register of 1,228,430 people. The rest of the income was distributed through the airway with 677,477 passengers and the seaway with only 3,237 users.
Finally, the report reveals that the main reasons for travel declared by this flow of people were: residence, tourism and transit.
The procedures for establishing residence led to the mobilization of 786,683 people, while tourist reasons attracted 630,232 travellers, with whom the INM reaffirms its commitment to the control and acceleration of the national migration flow.
