Tegucigalpa The National Institute for Migration (INM) Honduras keeps in force the mandatory requirements for issuing a passport for children under 21, detailing the protocols established for various family situations.
It is important to mention that the validity of the document for citizens under the age of 21 is for a period of five years and the cost is $35.00 or its equivalent in lempiras and if it is by emergency the cost increases to $55 or its equivalent in lempiras.
Steps to follow for passport for under 21 years
The general process begins with the purchase of the appointment from an authorized bank branch. On the day assigned on the appointment, the minor must attend the offices of Migration Honduras accompanied by both parents, presenting the receipt of payment, the birth certificate of the minor (or the National Identification Document in original and copy if he or she has reached the age of 18) and the original IDs and copies of the parents.
In the event that one or both parents are unable to attend, the child must show up with an adult carrying an absent parent's authorization duly authenticated by an alien.
In cases where one of the parents has died, the parent responsible must deliver the original death certificate of the deceased, the receipt of payment, the identification of the minor and his own identity card in original and copy.
Also, if one of the parents is abroad, an authorization issued by the consulate of Honduras nearest and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or an authorization granted by an alien of the country of residence duly apostillated.
On the other hand, when the procedure is carried out by guardians, grandparents or legal representatives exercising parental authority, they must prove their status by means of the corresponding judicial decision, in addition to complying with identification documents and payment of the appointment.
Once the passport officer checks the documentation provided by the users, the data are captured immediately, and the official photograph is captured.

The issue of passports for minors is immediately carried out at offices located in the Government Civic Centre, in Tegucigalpa, with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the regional office of San Pedro Sula, located in the Jardines del Valle, with opening hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and at the regional office of La Ceiba, located in El Nar Jayl colony, Atlántida Monday to Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In addition to the Emergency Passport Emission Centers at three air terminals; Palmerola International Airport (Comayagua) - 24/7, Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (San Pedro Sula) - 24/7, and Toncontín International Airport (Tegucigalpa) – with a service schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
